The Tamazula Hot Sauce is a true Mexican hot sauce and is perfect to put some extra spicy flavors in your tacos. It’s also known as a ”Salsa Picante”, and we can personally say that it is a very spicy sauce. It falls into the category of dark red Picante hot sauces.

As it is the case with most Mexican sauces, the Tamazula hot sauce concentrates on flavor and then heat. It means that it will offer your dishes a spicy kick of flavor.

What are the ingredients in a typical Tamazula sauce?

The hot sauce consists of 5 main ingredients. These are:

  • Chili peppers
  • Water
  • Vinegar
  • Salt
  • Traditional spices

How To Make  Tamazula Sauce at Home?

But to achieve the authentic spicy and flavory finish a salsa has to offer, it is best to cook it fresh in your kitchen. Besides, homemade Tamazula sauce is not difficult to make!

The ingredients for homemade Tamazula sauce are:

  • 10 grams of Arbol peppers
  • 3 Guajillo or Puya peppers
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Mexican oregano
  • ½ teaspoon of ground Cumin
  • ½ teaspoon marjoram
  • 1 clove
  • ½ teaspoon thyme
  • 6 peppercorns
  • Salt

After gathering these ingredients, follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Take a saucepan and place the Arbol, Guajillo/ Puya peppers, and garlic. Add the water and turn the heat to maximum. When the water starts boiling, turn the heat to a minimum and simmer for up to 20 minutes.

2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit until it reaches room temperature. When it is cooled, add the remaining ingredients and the sauce in a blender. Puree until you achieve a fine texture.

3. Pour the resulted mixture in a glass container. Use a strainer to remove any pieces of pepper skin.

4. Add the mixture in the saucepan on medium heat. Gently simmer for 5 minutes.

5. After it cools, you can pour your Tamazula sauce into a sterilized bottle.
